Hey eveyone my name in Michael.
I currently live in Phoenix, Arizona working for a large Law Enforcment agency and have been driving class B for almost 2 years. Hauling prisoners and crazys around. I'm looking to get out as I just can't take the politics anymore. After 10 years you just want to work and go home and it just doesn't happen.
Anyway. I'm looking to move my family to Boise, Idaho where they actually have seasons and kids can play outside without melting. I will have some cash in hand and will use that to pay for school to upgrade my license to class A with endorsements. The two schools I'm looking at are Sage and Profesional Truck Driving School. I'm not looking at long haul at this time. I want to start small, knowing the pay will be less but just want to break in slowly. Has anybody had any expierence with either of thes schools and any opions would be appreciated.
Thanks![]()

I have no knowledge of the schools you mentioned, but wish you luck in selecting one. I got my class A CDL in '98 and I maintain it mainly for a 'backup' occupation...
I am also currently in a Law Enforcement position and I understand your frustration...
Be aware that there are good local/dedicated route truck driving jobs, but they will be difficult to find... You may have to settle for something regional or OTR in the beginning...

Moving to ID, I would call Watkins Shepard in MT. They have an excellent training program, and providing you can meet their standard you will have a job when you graduate. It will commit you to them for a few months, but I think consevring your cash would be wise. I have moved all over the US, and I can tell you relocation always costs more then you plan......especially since your a family man with kids.
I'm sure there is nothing wrong with those programs you have listed, but if I was paying for a school I would only go to a PTDI certified school and a 8-12 week program, at a state technical college. It will cost less then the private schools, and you wil get so much more. I was reading in another post that there is a 10 week program at a state technical school in western NC for $750!! So I would do some seaching for a school in ID, and be sure to look at the states boardering ID on the state lines, often the states have agreements when they are on state lines to provide in state tuition pricing.
