    Hello,

I'm trying to find the best truck stop in America - any suggestions?

Think of somewhere you look forward to stopping.

Is there anywhere you go out of your way to stop? Why?

What makes a good truck stop?

And which ones are the absolute BEST??

Obviously, truckers are the best source for this information - Thanks for your input!!!

Heck I was going to say there really isn't anywhere I'm dying to stop except either at home or the cabin. Every truckstop has their good and bad and every truck driver has their opinion.

I really like the Iowa 80. I like the building and the truck displays. I don't eat much fast food but they have a good selection if you do. I always have a DQ blizzard when I'm there. It's a good place for people watching which is something I always find interesting. It's got a huge parking lot and I have never had a problem finding a good spot. It's got a truck museum which I have not been in yet but I'm looking forward to going when I'm there and it's open. Also it's in Iowa. I really like Iowa.

Truck stops are all becoming the same now...stock...the uniqueness of induvisual independently owned truck stops has long since died...except for the one Willie Nielson owns just south of Dallas on I-35....

Other than that...most and all the major truck stops are the same...
Although there is a T/A truck stop in Breezewood, PA...at the junction of toll road 70/76 and 70...where I-70 seperates and goes south into Maryland...

There's a T/A there that is large, 2 levels...video games, plenty of phones, pool tables...ect ect...it has a spacey mall feel to it and it's clean...

With modern day technology...truckers really only use truck stops for restrooms, fuel and a quick trip to the store or resturant...now with internet and cell phones and satelite radios dvds laptops...ect ect...drivers have very little need to interact with each other...which I find disappointing...

Anyhow I'm sure someone will come up with a super fabulous hidden out of the way truck stop that most of us don't know about...

Oh one more thing...Out West in Nevada is always a fun place to drive. Most of the large casinos provide truck parking...and so do a lot of Wal-marts...

Well, I can see this is a real popular thread here. I would have thought it would be full of great places to stop.

I am going to share one that I stayed at that I thought was real nice.

Its in Gila Bend, Arizona. It's a mom and pop run place and it is about as clean as your ever gonna find. Restrooms, large shower rooms and cleaner than a babies butt. It's not very big but, everything was #### and span.

It's was a Shell station, not a cigarette butt or trash of any kind to be found anywhere. They even mop the fuel island everyday, I know this cause I saw them doing it in the morning when I got up.

Try this place out next time your out there, it's a one of a kind. :biggrin_25525:

My favorites are the empty ones! :biggrin_25523:

Actually I like Love's as I keep my card Platinum, with help from my dispatchers and fuel dude, for free coffee and showers(which I drink and take a lot of) but will stop at Petro's and TAs when I want to eat...I avoid Flying Js as the ones I've seemed to stop at are schitholes, I'm sure there's some nice ones, I just haven't found them and have stopped looking...

For the first time ever, I actually walked into a casino at the Petro in Shrevesport, LA last night and after 5 hands of .50/hand walked out with $250!!!!!!!!!!

My Favorite Truckstop is my Driveway in front of my house,,,

Its a magical place, always a parking spot,(and my truck literally becomes invisable while its there)no wait on showers, all the food is like "Home Cooking",its a all you can eat/anytime you want to eat,no looking up at the ceiling for the menu(go figure huh),Washers and Dryers are no wait and free,150 channels and only one remote(mine)and No one knocks on my door, unless i asked them to come over(BYOB)

And best thing is,,im the only trucker there,i dont have to rub my eyes in dis-belief or try to "UNLOOK" something i just saw

    U2Exit Thanks this.
