We have prewar engines in the old home that are still in good condition electrically. Common three rail O. The problem is the rheostat box which is also original. Built like a battleship, buzzes like a spark monster now and then.

Firing them up makes interesting interference in some of the older analog devices still capable of working in the house.

The true horror is weakling pants hanging outside the window for that fresh air while complaining of arm fatique on the power steering.

We used to add power just a little bit enough to lift the front end enough to spin the large wheel about 3 inches from the center hub before she settles back down in the correct non power steering orientation.

Newbies in those days grab a hold and try to armstrong it.

Some of my 2000 and earlier trucks used to creak and groan when hitting the brakes just so. Its almost the engineers built the frame and such just enough not to break but neglected to overbuild for 30 years service. Disposible comes to mind.
