If 2700-3000 miles per week at 30 CPM is less than half of what you make now, then when you become an O/O that figure may very well be cut in half, or more.

thanks stranger, I only have 1 very close friend that drives. He is an O/O and pulls for landstar. He has been gracious enough to show me some of his checks and he is pulling around 1500/week after expenses...Since he is as of now my only source for info, I'm basing much of my figures off of him. That is why i was wanting advice from u guys. Is he the exception? Is 1500+ weekly avg or is it on the high side. Please understand it's not as much about money as it is making my own way and being my own boss. I just don't want to end up making 500/wk. and when i decide to finally make this jump, the current job will most likely not be an option again.

that's not after expenses. that is after his fuel and eating advances. Now take maintenance and repairs and taxes out of that money

again, that's why i'm here. He is telling me that is what he puts in his pocket. that was a avg. he had some weeks that we around 1100 and some that were much higher. I honestly don't know enough to question what he tells me.

it may be what he puts in his pocket. but tht means he isn't keeping up much of a business. where is that repair fund when he blows a motor? then it's off to landstar for a loan and I guarantee they will take their money from his check. heck, they even help themselves to my money out of my check... I'm leased to landstar. I know they don't have any escrow accounts or mainteance funds they deduct for. That check is everything he made minus whatever he advanced for fuel which usually also covers your eats and a few other things.

Medicineman - My plan was to go to prime, get the miles and time requirement and try to get on with landstar. do you think that is a good game plan or would you suggest another route?
