Quick question. I have a 2008 Cascadia with a Detroit Series 60 14L. I need to change the fuel temperature sensor on the bottom of the fuel pump.
Do I need to prime the fuel system with compressed air after unbolting it from the air compressor?

I don’t know for sure, but don’t think so. Might have to prime it afterwards to get it started. Pretty sure, from what I’ve heard that’s the purpose of the fitting.I think it’s for when you lose fuel in the head when changing an injector or line/ check valve. I would think filling filters would be enough to get it started afterwards. If not the air fitting is there, or a rag, and a blow gun, blowing it into the fuel tank will work.

@truckdriver31, I have a Series 60 in my Cascadia and I don't see a hand pump anywhere.

No hand pump, only an air fitting for priming system
PE_T and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
You wont have to prime it. Very little if any fuel escapes from sensor port.
swaan, PE_T and Rideandrepair Thank this.
