Hey everyone, Im new to trucking with only about 4 months experience and currently work for an extremely small and crappy company and would like to make a switch. I was wondering if anybody knows what companies or someone who will give you a ton of miles. I have no kids, no wife, perfect mvr, no missdemeanors or felonies, and am willing to go on the road for a long time. Any suggestions?

You would have better luck asking for the winning lottery numbers. Miles don't stay static, things change, and they change nearly over night.

My advice, if you want to call it that. Stick with the smaller companies, the big boys are NEVER the answer no matter what that slicked up recruiter tells you...

Well, Pardner, it's just not that easy. Could you even handle a "ton of miles"? Can you run Fresno to Charlotte in 38 hours solo? My point is, be careful what you ask for. I've sat in with dispatchers over the years. I've listened to drivers calling in and want to run hard, make money etc. Then the dispatcher cups the phone and says to me "This guy couldn't run 400 miles a day for 2 days straight, let alone a hot load."

If you are at the bottom of this business, which you are, there is no greener grass on the other side of the fence.

Find a local job with an LTL and you might just pay the bills.

Be careful what you wish for. A ton of miles , I don,t think you know that a few companys will push you to 5,800 miles per week and no easy west coast either. Trust me you don,t want stay up 35 plus hours and sleep 3 hrs. and do it again for years. It will catch up to you and you have no idea the toll it takes on your health.

There are alot of local companies hiring but they want minimum 1 years experience. I know some of the big companies will hire me but I don't just wanna jump in and get screwed. The reason I want a lot of miles is because I need the money right now. Trust me I agree with you I wouldn't wanna be running 5000 a week forever, I wanna haul ### for a year or two.

BigLou, We all need the money right now, but you may be better off staying where you are !! Those big companies may give you less miles than now, plus they suck more than the smaller companies. Trust us before you make a costly mistake. I used to run out of westmont illinois, its been years. try 800-268-7804, don't even know if they are still in business. more miles than You can handle...good luck
