So, there are a few truck stops in and around Minden, on I-20. But you better settle for the one on your side of the highway. Because all the overpasses have a weight limit of 15 tons...
Had to do quite a loop around last night to get to the Love's on exit 49...
Just saying. You could be the one falling down below on the interstate.
Watch out for the overpass- I20 Minden, LA

Yeah been there. I usually keep rolling. Loves and locals say trucks go over there many times but if a cop is there it’s a $500 ticket. Seeing how the bridge is still there after seeing 6-8 axle trucks go thru it I’m guessing the city made it a 15 ton bridge for revenue. Surprised no one ratted them out to the feds. Maybe someone told me wrong but I thought states are supposed to make at least 1 air mile distance of the interstate truck accessible. I may be wrong as I didn’t read it on any laws just what I was told from a handful of folk.

Judging from the street view, it appears to be in quite the state of disrepair. I guess theres no budget left for bridge repair after taking care of everyone who doesn't feel like working (same as everywhere)RockinChair, Rideandrepair, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't know when they changed it to 15 tons, but even before that it was rated at 35 ton and they have a lot of truck traffic that weighed more going over that bridge. Many truck got off at that exit to run up and catch US 79. The bridge at exit 5 going to the TA was also rated at 35T. I wonder if that one got dropped too.

They changed it a couple years ago due to it being in disrepair. They were suppose to fix it a couple years. It was pushed back due to funding. Along with a couple others in Minden.
If you are going east bound you have to go down to exit 46 I believe to turn around. Then to get back on you have to go five miles to exit 55 to turn around.
I personally won't go over that bridge. If I get a fuel stop @ that loves headed east bound, I just call and change the fuel stop. Otherwise what should be a 15 min fuel stop turns into 45 min.Rideandrepair and Just passing by Thank this. -
Are there signs at each end of the bridge with the weight limit displayed? Are there any signs as you are on the exit ramp advising you not to make a turn in the direction of the bridge?
Example, many interstate exits in the Chicago area advise trucks not to make a left or right turn because of an immediate low clearance.MACK E-6, mjd4277, Savor the Flavor and 1 other person Thank this. -
My GPS alerted me to it. It had me exiting down a couple of exits later to turn around. I then confirmed with my atlas. As I was leaving Loves I looked for the weight limit sign. I saw it posted next to the bridge, but if your not looking for it, it is easy to miss.mjd4277, Rideandrepair, Studebaker Hawk and 1 other person Thank this. -
