Supply and demand is never suspended. I don’t understand what your counterpoint is. That is nothing that came from anything I had posted

When there is less demand for YOU to haul the freight, meaning more trucks than freight, your pay goes down. Simply because they can find a dummy to haul it cheaper than you doesn't mean government should stop them.

Only if the bargaining is between shippers and truckers. 2 parties. But if it’s a 3rd party broker that is causing the problem with pay to truckers to move freight to the point that makes it unprofitable, then Houston we have a problem with the system that needs to be addressed .

What makes you think the shipper will not drive down rates? Heck, they have the most incentive to.

Edit: All that will change is who gets to keep the money.

They will, they do. But we’re talking degrees here. And we’re talking about relevant parties in the transaction. 3 parties, one of which is parasitic. That’s a part that is driving some people out of business. Not as much shippers driving down rates from what I understand, although that may or may not be occurring. But an aggravating factor can be the broker.

No WE don't have a problem, YOU have a problem. I haul quite a bit direct, for a giant ### multinational corporation called Gavillon, the pay from them is very nearly the same as through a broker, they're paying the broker extra to provide capacity that I can't as one truck.
If brokers are all so crooked why don't you open your own brokerage, run it the same way as you say here that it should be and you'll have more shippers and carriers than you can count, or you'll go broke.

The only thing driving down rates is companies (O/O's, to megas) taking loads for less and less money. This happens because there are more trucks in the area than loads and someone simply wants to get moving again.

No more, no less. All getting rid of brokers will do is save the shippers money, it will not (except for maybe very short term) raise the rates.

Understood, but that’s never gonna change since they deregulated the industry to let this consolidation of trucking companies. Blaming a few poor OO who are maybe taking iffy loads is not the bigger issue. A broker profiteering in the middle is a bigger issue. I certainly disagree that shippers would offer loads for much less if brokers were out of the picture, otherwise they would have forced out independent brokers long ago, and taken the extra money.

You made more money too didn’t you?
So you want both sides to make equal pay?
You want someone doing shoddy work to get paid the same as one that does great work?
    You want socialism?
