Well mostly if a company has really pretty trucks, they are making to high of payments to pay a driver a good wage. Unless they have some really special gig, their getting paid big bucks for. And a pretty truck don't pay my bills!

My neighbor has been with them for 17yrs. He says they are great. Lots of miles and good customers. Jim is kinda of a "cowboy" when it comes to rules and laws though. They are out of bankruptcy now and are doing good according to him. Who knows though. They will run your arse off though. My neighbor stays out for a month; comes home and takes three or four days off.

Jim Palmer MAKES 'cowboys'. That's the issue I spoke of regarding their failure to follow the regulations as they are written in regard to logs. They prefer it be done their way instead of the way it's supposed to be done.

As to your friend being out for a month and home for four days, he's one of the senior drivers who, whether owner operator or company driver, has 'established' himself with JP and receives the appropriate one day off for every week off that ALL drivers should receive, but don't. His time in is the only thing that's given him that .. privelege.

This is one of the companies DOT will be going after for ignoring the rules. They will be forced to have EOBR in ever truck. Then we will see if they are still around in a year or so. My money says they will go under in 6 mos or less.

the big ? is why would anyone want to buy this company the equipment is all leased only thing owned is the buildings and property in missoula, will be intresting to watch and see how many drivers leave once the word gets out that 3 of the upper management folks have bolted, course the company line has been and will be that they are keeping the company viable in these hards times, lol thats a laugh this used to be a great company to work for, but in the past year and a half has been run into the ground and the work enviorment is terrible i myself have 2 weeks left.
they are really paying for the new hires they got early summer when they panick and had trucks to fill alot of equipment tore up not to mention the tickets and the team we lost last month.

The only company who would even look at them would be one that wants a MT term.

I was curious about Jim Palmer Trucking. They seem to have pretty strict hiring standards. Their website says no dot preventable accidents, so does that mean in the past 3 years or EVER?
