@Rocks, after careful thought, it is good to baby a vehicle that can benefit from it.
I dont know how to write this in english but I will try to paraphrase a little bit.
A big truck of the older iron is like a wife, married to you a long time. (Or a husband to you etc) you know everything about that specific vehicle down to the last post and bolt. Its a knowledge also of whats possible in fixing something that is not to par. Otherwise you would not be afraid to take it another million miles.
Now if you stood in a truck auction there is many reasons why those sad old trucks are for sale. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT PROBLEM. VERY EXPENSIVE by the time YOU sink it into the trucks that really should be in the salvage line.
Same with used cars. If you have a older vehicle that you know intimately and is in relatively good condition then it is worth loving on as we say in the south. You do not want a rusted out yankee car with too many winters hidden in it's frame after excessive detailing and sprayed mints etc inside the thing. (Remember that oil? Sticks to you too...) Pearls before swine I think goes the term someone will buy it and then be very sorry when they learn the frame needs replacing. (Never mind that some vehicles today do not have frames at all, but rather the Body IS the frame. UGH....)Rocks, WesternPlains, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
