Anything new in the world of W/S? -
I applied to W&S and waiting ot hear... I live in Vermont and wondering how is the freight out of here.. are they a van or flatbed company? what is the pay scale? how are the benifits? living in vermont how is the himetime......if anyone could help me out I would appreciated it!!!!!

I'll let one of the company guys, such as S2B, answer the freight questions. I can tell you that WS has refer/van, flatbed and stepdeck divisions. New hires are required to enter the refer/van division and when they have some experience they may become eligible to try flatbed or stepdeck. Experienced drivers are evaluated and then placed appropriately. Pay is dependent upon experience, and newbies start out at around $0.27/mile-$0.28/mile depending on where they got their training and CDL. They also have the usual fuel and safety bonuses, and loading/unloading and layover pay. Benefits are typical for the trucking industry (great), they have a 401K after 90 days solo, and the hometime is pretty standard too. They'd like you to stay out 3 weeks OTR min, then take your hometime (4 days). You can take a pet or human passenger after 90 days solo. They are an excellent midsize company and they are picky about who they hire. Hope this helps with some of your questions.southbaydad Thanks this.

thanks dad, well put, u sumed it just about all up. but the refer side is tiny really, iv only pulled 1 refer and it had plants and trees in it...
as for living in the vt area, ur too far awya to get hired on. company policy is that you park the truck a term or yard of w.s and leav it there while on home time, they have a hiring radious of up to or around 120 miles from w.s property.
however, if u have family close to a term u could use their address and get hired on but would still have to leave the truck at a yard. in my only opinon i hate vt. no place to park a truck, no place to pull in and grab something to drink/eat real quick and if u sleep at a rest area ull be almost sure to be woken by mr. dot waiting to give u a look over lev 1 or 2 inspection. beent here, done that... also was put out of service for 2 1/2 days up there cause i was too long?? didnt care for the actions of the cop, local cop, in anyway....
best of luck...
