Fort Stockton, mind the truck route in Carrizo Springs or your wallet will be about $200 lighter.

I prefer to take 83 to Fort Stockton, then across 10 to El Paso, I like the drive. adds at least an hour or so to run thru San Antonio but it big roads. I like the old roads, but Im old like they are so there kind of friends.

If you're on that stretch of 90 at night watch out for critters. I've never seen so many deer west of Del Rio. And ditto on the truck route around Carrizo Springs.

You can save 14 minutes going to Fort Stockton.

277 to Sonora is a bit off.

Going up to San Antonio to I-10 will add 101 miles, but if you drive 75 mph all the time, then going through San Antonio isn’t bad, especially considering that you’ll be on much better quality roads.

Some 3 years ago, I hit an owl at night going through those roads on my way to Laredo. I was doing a morning pre-trip and the dead owl hanging from my hood mirror spooked me!

    PacoTaco Thanks this.

I had an owl fly within a foot of my windshield once on that same stretch of road. Scared me half to death.

    PE_T Thanks this.

In that part of the country, it was most likely a chupacabra...
