Depends on where you live... Right out of school I was offered a job by 3 different LTL companies, a food service company and a usps contracter. What city do you live in/by?

I don’t mind driving the automatic trucks when they work well. And work well in the winter. The autos my company has forgets what it’s doing in between the gears 7-12. It’ll get to 7th then coast for about 2-3 seconds then upshift to whatever it’s going to. Taking off they never know if they’re empty or loaded. You can’t baby the throttle when taking off or it doesn’t move, which in the winter causes tons of wheel spin. It’s annoying to know you can shift a truck smoother than the auto. But they pay me to get to point a to b and it does that. Now those new freightliners on the other hand.... I had one of those my last 4 months at Schneider and the auto held it’s own.

I started with a little local outfit right out of school, and all trucks are 13 speeds. You just have to look a little more, and then put in your time. Hang in there, and after a couple of years, the work and the work relationship get better and better.

Don't be the guy hopping the fence every 6 months and expecting not to be the new guy, once again. Once is hard enough, why go thru the same new guy crapola every 6 months? Too many never have the lightbulb go off, and keep job-hopping most of their careers.

So is Freymiller the only company driver job these days offering manual transmission? Oh yeah and Dynamic has some nice ten speeds.

    Any other companies?
