    My last one was rattling like you mention. It was old and it sounded like a rod knock. Have a new one on that is quiet as can be. So I know exactly what you are talking about my friend. Just put it on 3 weeks ago

    Right, but even new ones rattle when they're loaded. On most engines you can't hear it over the combustion knock.

    Put the new vibratech damper unit on and all that rattle noise is completely gone.
    That vibratech unit seems to be of better quality than that old cat one that I took off.
    Thank you guys for your help. Hope this thread helps someone else out in the future

    Have you checked the followers they lose the bearings on the rollers eventually cause block damage if let go.
