Not sure if that's the case. I don't know either way but I did see that some widows are not clear if the dead spouse will be classified as dying in the line of duty. Which is how the living family keeps the health insurance among other benefits.
We haven't clarified who gets to decide who must work, who must not, and how the consequences play out.
And once again, medical insurance is right in the middle, with no logic as to who and when and why for coverage.... SMH

PS. Deceased was a fireman or a cop, can't remember... First responder under state or county or city burocratic rules

Meanwhile, little tyrants are running amok trying to keep us "safe."

Safety...the new god...which replaced the old god, "unconditional love."

If you refuse to return to work without actually going in to see the working conditions after a plant has closed and reopened, I would bet no unemployment eligibility.

You need to have facts to go into an unemployment hearing and expect to win. You can’t just say it isn’t safe to work there. You need to have specifics... a lack of ppe, a lack of 6 foot barrier to next worker, would be info a hearing officer would want to hear in order to grant unemployment benefits.

In Iowa, the governor has said anyone not going back to work after a plant reopens will lose their unemployment benefits.

But she doesn’t get to decide...the hearing officers that hear the cases make the decision based on the specific facts for that case. They will decide who gets, or does not get unemployment. That is called due process, and keeps the unemployment system fair for both the employer and the employee.

The U.S. already has that - the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, a branch of our Armed Forces.
