Hi, my name is Angie, I'm 22 and I've been looking into driving a truck for a living. I am VERY nervous about it, I know that its a very demanding job and very hazardous. Anyways I was debating whether to go to school to get training or go through the Driver Source program.
Here's some information about the program, let me know what you think;
USA Truck offers a great pay package for new drivers completing the Driver Solutions company-paid CDL training program. Shown below are some highlighted details of the driver pay package.
Your starting mileage pay with USA Truck depends upon the Drivers Choice scholarship program you choose. The Drivers Choice program offers you several options to pay for CDL training. The amount USA Truck pays toward your tuition cost directly affects your starting mileage rate. The beginning mileage rates range from 25¢ per mile to 27¢ per mile with pay increases every three months during your first year. Depending on the scholarship program you choose, you could earn up to $37,000 your first year.
To learn more about the different Drivers Choice scholarship programs view the CDL Training Program page.
Additional pay will be provided to USA Truck drivers if the driver is required to load or unload a shipment. USA Truck also awards recruiting bonuses to employees who recruit new drivers to the company.![]()

Trucking schools and companies that run their own schools have a tendancy to exaggerate when it comes to pay.
Please take the time to read a lot of threads on this board before you shell out any money or indenture yourslef to a company.
I wish I'd have known about this board before I spent $5K on trucking school earlier this year. -
Hi Angie I'm a current driver for USA Truck so feel free to ask me any questions you might have. I have been with USA for 1 1/2 years now and I did go thru Driver's Solutions to get my CDL. I started at 27 cpm and I'm now at 36 cpm and my first year I made just a little over $32,000.

Check into Pell grants. I am unemployed so the Feds are paying my schooling. I would reccomend a VoTech college as the classes are longer and better for someone who has never driven a big rig.
Check under schools on this site.
