Thank you Chipper. As far as the background goes, and I've heard other people say it but wanted your opinion (anyone else please chime in here too)... Would you say the main cause for being sent home in such an event would be the cause of a criminal record that the student had not disclosed on their app? It just seems interesting to me that they were sent home for nothing, but I've heard it's been done plenty of times before.

Financing app??? for??? I am pathetic I know, but I don't have my parents addresses or phone numbers. My "father" is somewhere in Canada with his new wife (I was adopted, there is so much more that really doesn't need to be said, but when I pushed about finding my real father he cut me off). My biological father passed away February 2007. My mother was recently evicted. She goes from one place to another, and only calls or stops by when she needs something. I don't think that even if she had a number, it wouldn't do them any good. Other family & friends, got that covered.

Best of luck to you ChipperDawg. I guess we won't be kicking you out of the dorms. I totally understand the decision. I really hope you find something to do well at.

Yes, I believe most of the people who fail the background check is because a)they lied about it or b)there is something there that they don't know about. It could be possible that some of them have outstanding tickets or a revoked license and have no clue. Those are the ones that I feel for. The ones that don't disclose and they know about it, well... they're given 3 opportunities to do so and then its out the door for them.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I would bring a couple of other family members and friend's information. They are pretty insistent about getting all 8 in there. For example... I am not married, so I didn't fill out the spouse line. Well, they wanted somebody there... so I put my grandfather in there. Whatever floats their boat. lol -
Hey Jess I see your out there I'm leavn to many new people here for me. Give them my 2 cents will ya

ooops... sorry mama mia forgot to explain about the financing app.
When you make it thru all of the stuff you have to pass (workwell, drugtest, physical, paperwork, security interview) then you go to class. First thing you do in this class is fill out a financing application. You are going to school # Truck Driving Academy. They have courses thruought the US and are based in Sacramento, CA. Central's Truck Driving Academy is tweaked a little in the curriculum to suit their specific needs of course. Basically it costs $3k to go to this school. Central will loan you the money at 0% interest. They want the names in case you go into default etc... so they can call and harass your family and friends about your wherabouts. The instructor did say that they would call each of the references to make sure they are all real. He might have been joking - he's a little hard to read sometimes. -
I was thinking about the transportation options when ariving at schools. I was thinking about hopping on the greyhound bus for the ride down to Riverside/Fontana. I cant get over the fact its probably 6-7 hours drive down from santa maria. So I was willing to drive down that sunday before hand to see the area and figure where's the local walmart. I'm bringing my ice chest and filling up with cheapo foodstuff. So would I be able to leave my truck there at the riverside terminal when I am out with my trainer?

Sorry, we don't want to scare you off!

Thanks Chipper. I really don't think I have anything to worry about. I've seen my driving record, don't have any outstanding tickets or revocations, & I don't have anything as far as a criminal history. For some reason though, I still feel a little nervous about the first day or 2 & I don't know why. I think I've just heard a lot of bad stories.

No need to be worried. You'll do fine! I wasn't worried about the background when I came in because I knew there was nothing there. A lot of the bad stories can be just that... stories, angry applicants who got sent home and have nothing better to do than to lie some more about why they didn't make it. I'm not saying there's no credibility to them... but some of the stories on here about some companies are just completely ridiculous.
I'm thinking back and remember quite a few of your posts... and you're going to have nothing to worry about. You're going to pass the work-well with flying colors like most people did. If you can answer the security questions (is your recruiter Sarah? i think so... she asks you those questions on the phone. Do you have any felonies? misdemeanors? last time used illegal drug?...) your're going to pass security interview. No problems in the past... your're going to pass the background check. If you can, do the basics for physical. Eyes ok? can you determine between red and green? (Yes, they do check that!) I hope so or you shouldn't be driving in the first place. lol
get blood pressure checked. should be less than 140/90 ideally. if over 150/99 see a Dr. It will probably be a little higher day of. Hear a whisper at 5 ft? Can you close your eyes... hold your arms out in front of you and then touch your nose with left hand? That is what the physical basically is. Drug test? yeah.. do drugs and won't pass.
Really man... if you can just go, be relaxed about it... you will pass everything so much easier then you already are going to. You are going to be able to say "Been there... ROCKED that!"
Linebacker51 and ssccrab Thank this.
