After going thru a ureteroscopy, I would guess that a Lithotripsy wouldn't be any worse, assuming the urologist feels that it's necessary. We'll see what he says when I go in to see him this a.m. Hopefully it will be 'return to work and come see me in a month or so"

Same I live in Virginia. Truck comes once a week to our local hospital. Believe truck is out of Winston-Salem.ncmickey Thanks this. -
Success!!!!!!!!!! The doctor says that the remaining stones are not an eminant threat to my health so as of Thursday, I can return to my normal trucking duties without restrictions. And yanking that stent out was less painfull than what I was feeling before the surgery. In fact, I think I have had more discomfort taking a urgent piss lately than what it felt like to remove that little sucker. He said part of the problem that caused this is the tube from my left kidney to my bladder is smaller than it should be, so it restricts the flow on that side. He said he had trouble getting the scope and stent up to the stone. And that is also why I was having more discomfort after the surgery from irratation from the stent.
rachi, Lonesome, Speed_Drums and 6 others Thank this. -
Glad to hear it. The worst part of the stint is thinking about how they are going to go in and grab it.... really stung for a few seconds!!

I’m pretty sure Duke and UNC went in on a Center that’s half way between the 2 campuses for that now....
They told me males in the Southern States have the most kidney stones in the country. They said it’s from the iced tea....Last edited: May 12, 2020
mushroom1464 and Bumper Thank this. -
The worst part, the doctor's normal assistant is out today for a death in the family, and the backup assistant got all the equipment prepped, then forgot the lidocaine...had to leave and get some, then the thing wouldn't focus. So, they had to go get a different one, soak it in sterilization fluid, and try again. Not much of a sting, more like a pinch like you get if you try to piss to hard, then a bunch of back pressure, and then I suddenly had to pee so bad I could've hit the sink across the room...plus, when he 1st started removing it, I could feel it moving all the way up to the middle of my back.Last edited: May 12, 2020
Farmerbob1, Dale thompson, Bumper and 1 other person Thank this. -
If the tube from one of your kidneys to your bladder is too small, maybe that is why you got stones? Maybe leaving something flexible in there to hold the tube open might be a good idea? I'd at least ask the doc about it.

Having the flow restricted was what he said might have been part of the problem. But keeping a foreign object in there long term would only aggravate and cause inflammation. They have me on Flowmax right now to relax things down there. I mean, if it's been that way from birth, it took 53 years to show up.
I was miserable and had a lot of discomfort while that thing was in me, especially when I had to pee(which stayed the color of rasberry lemonade). Almost like I had a urinary tract infection. Since it was removed I am pretty much back to normal.baha, Lonesome, Farmerbob1 and 2 others Thank this. -
All this talk about plumbing problems makes me cringe.MACK E-6, Farmerbob1 and mushroom1464 Thank this.
