Just wait until your carriers customer gets offered by the broker or another broker to move everything for a dollar cheaper. Yes, for a period of time the broker will pocket profits, and the customer will keep the contract relationship. If the low rates are very prolonged at all. The customer will call your carrier and say you guys either need to come down a dollar per mile, or we going to cancel the contract. We can’t pay hundreds of thousands more then we have too.
It’s already happening, just hasn’t happened to you yet.
Edit: I’m not saying your plan is bad whatsoever, just be ready for it. Your not bullet proof as you may think.RubyEagle Thanks this. -
I get it but it wont happen small rural communities in the farm belt that provides resources for these Corporate giants. We have Honda P&G Conagra Steel Manufactures Emerson ,Food producers (pizza and Bread) they all look after the local communities theyre all well invested in our communities. Trust me they all pass the collection plate at the local church as well. Fair handshake everybodies happy.

We as trucking companies are seeing the brokers like XPO, cut the bottom out of the rates but the customer hasn't cut their rates to XPO. Many more are doing the same thing. Its either take it now and deal with them later or don't have jobs and a business. I wish everyone would write to their governor's and complain about the price gouging. Talk about front line employees.....well what do you think that a driver does on a day to day basis as well? Please take them time on your breaks to write those letters of concern to your governor's. Thank you and be safe out there.

Qtrly profit loss reports showed XPO with huge gains in 2019 .

Jesus not another one of these threads. Our steady got shut down for over a month due to cov19 and we were thinking when it came back they were gon slash the rates but nope they didn't. 700$ on a hair under 170mi. Find a better broker

Then why are you complaining about brokers? And any good broker should quote every load as if it's being bid on by another broker or a carrier directly.
Brokering is very competitive and if you try to charge a shipper $2/mile on a lane that's running at $1.10 you won't get the load and if you do it's likely the last one you'll get from them.
People have it in their minds that brokers can just charge every shipper as much as they want, regardless of rates, as if the shippers bank account is their piggy bank. It simply doesn't work that way. -
It's economics. It's not the brokers fault that another person or company bids lower then you, me, or anybody else. Brokers offer what people are WILLING to take. Just like a store sells stuff for a price people are WILLING to pay.
What do you expect the brokers to do? Say "sorry, you can't bid that low for this load"?
