Here at the receiver. The lack of urgency on the part of dispatch regarding this load becomes clear -- bulk delivery, FCFS. Nobody is waiting on this specific load, and there was no appointment time to miss.
Once again my practice of not caring about the things HQ obviously doesn't care about has served me well.

BH Groveport was the busiest I've ever seen it. All I had to do was bobtail in and grab a pre-loaded trailer, and it took me an hour and 20 minutes to get in and out. There was a line of trucks all the way back down the side road and out into the main street. The security personnel at the gate looked a little frazzled.
In very slightly related news, the new Love's in Groveport gives me flashbacks to the PFJ in Castaic.Redtwin Thanks this. -
I often wonder what goes through ppl's heads sometimes. RV on the shoulder decided to pull out off the shoulder in front of me about 15 mph. I couldn't get over due to two cars on my left. Good thing I anticipated he might do something stupid and slowed down a little in case I had to take evasive action.

Got empty and reloaded yesterday in Reno, literally around the corner from each other. Finishing up a reset then off to Edison NJ for Sunday evening. Left the house a week ago today. Finished the week at 4315 paid miles plus a day of layover because of an operational screw-up, wait a minute, of course an operational screw-up, I’ve been here 7 years and have never had a driver screw-up.
MidWest_MacDaddy, Redtwin, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
Lonesome Thanks this.

Looks like we're getting new HOS regs at some point in the near future. These are not (as I understand things) going into effect right now, but will go into effect sometime before the end of the year. (I am not 100% clear on that, so don't quote me.)
Hours of Service Drivers Final Rule | FMCSA
High points:
1) 30-minute break will be keyed to drive time instead of on-duty time. So going off-duty stops the 8-hour countdown.
2) Relatedly, on-duty time counts towards the 30-minute break.
3) We will have a 7/3 split instead of an 8/2 split.MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome and gntorres61 Thank this.
