Want to be able to cover them up and display another companies numbers when needed.....

Back in the day you could display all your assigned numbers on the tractor together in the open even if you had multiple leases. Is that not legal anymore?
Example= you are Cat Sdp kick butt transport
USDOT xxxxxxxxxxxx
Leased to yyyyyyyyyyy
Usdot xxxxxxxxx.
And leased to zzzzzzzzzzzz
Usdot xxxxxxxxxx -
If you are operating under someones authority you also need to be on their liability insurance.

As far as I have every known you can only be leased to one carrier. The truck cannot be under control of multiple companies at one time, the legal issues would be immensely complex. You could trip lease to another carrier while leased to one permanently, in which case you still just display the information for the one you have the permanent lease with.
Review very carefully
