Where do you live? 36 million people got laid off. If I heard that right in the news. So, 20+% unemployment now. I do otr step deck, I'm slower. This last week was better, than the previous ones. Granted I took a load into Manhattan..... The economy has to kick in for gas to pick up. Right?
But the economy is regional. Southern Cali may never open. Missouri is opening up. -
I'm seeing mote general traffic in southern California, not there long enough to count fuel trucks, but seeing more of those in AZ and Colo that were previously laying down.
I'd say keep in touch with companies and let them know what you want to do. You'll be in.line behind the experienced guys because you need to be trained and carded at racks.
Meanwhile if you want local petroleum work, the hot oil people are busy out here.Last edited: May 16, 2020
77fib77 Thanks this. -
I’m in the Northeast, I stated that earlier.

Well the miles I’m getting at swift aren’t increasing either and my 2nd year has been going down the tubes and I don’t see it getting better.Muddydog79 Thanks this.

Island transportation is in Jersey and long island. Go talk to them. Those states are making it a point to stay locked down. So I don't see it changing for the better. If your in queens there are some cement truck operations. Jersey has a spot near Newark for cement. Guys claim propane's pays up in south Jersey, winter is busy. That's more regional. But what state is the northeast for you exactly?

Texas has really only opened up 50% with all the distancing and capacity level restrictions. Businesses can only allow 25% capacity and most companies are still having employees work from home. Lot’s of people still arn’t going out because all the businesses require you to wear a mask. (No shoes, No shirt, No mask, No service. ) and there have been a few shootings over people not wearing them in public too. Gas an diesel are still cheap and plentiful here. Traffic has gone up this last week but still nowhere near what it was.....yet.

I’m well aware of the lockdowns in Northeast. I may wait till the fall or winter see how things look and what comes of the second wave.

I'm in Vegas. Our loads are pretty much cut in half. Were getting 2-3 loads per shift. Getting guaranteed 40 hours whether we do 4 or 8 hours per shift. Vegas is a tricky market. The town is slowly opening up, but without the tourists driving the economy, the recovery is gonna be slow around here. Even if the casinos open up next month. Its still gonna be a while before people come here on a regular basis until its safe to travel, and be in a dense environment like sin city.

I think Vegas and Disney will be the first to bounce back fully. People will risk their lives to lose money in Sin city and they sell their soul for the Chinese Mouse.
And if that doesnt work they will pack onto a cruise ship and get another virus rolling again.ronjeremyjr Thanks this.
