When i was doing 3rd party oilfield work for schlumberger everything had 8LL and 5.13 or 4.8X something Pete 367's and 365's, can't remember. US Well Services had everything 18 to 9sp speeds i hated the most in hill country with a 100-110k frac pump. If convoy got stopped on a hill and your in a 10 sp good luck not killing the clutch getting it started on a 10% plus grade
Edit: Smaller 2 axle pumps were 87k gross but 3 axle pumps were between 100-110k depending on what engine and if it was a triplex or quad plungers
Road test with different transmission than im used to

there is only one little difference in the stick pattern from a straight 10, and you don’t need to use the extra switch if you aren’t comfortable with it yet. There’s nothing to it if you already know how to drive a straight 10 well enough.

I was given a driving Test back in 98 with a super 10.All I'd operated was a 13 and strait 10.Passed but was pissed.

Didnt all the old RT series trans have top gear on the dash? My 15 and my 13 do.
To the OP. An 18 is easier to drive than a 13. You never get caught with your splitter locking out the range selector when you need to drop to the low side all of a sudden.Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
25(2)+2 and FoolsErrand Thank this.

Everybody misses gear on occasion except super truckers! I drive a bunch of different combinations and I get distracted on occasion and forget the pattern. On the 18 I split the top couple when real heavy. You'll get used to it. Like amodelcat said drive it like a nine until you're comfortable experimenting. Good luck!
