Gm dealer wanted 985.00 bucks to change water pump on a 12,000 miles car. I'm in it 38.00 bucks for 2 water pump gaskets and 2 gallons of coolant out the door. And they wonder why they get a bad rep.


However it did set a week before I had time to work on it.

 

Now that I'm finally home I got a chance to do some work 9n my wife's Volvo XC60. I replaced the A/C Compressor, receiver/drier and expansion valve. Vacuumed and recharged it last night and at 86° ambient temp and 87% humidity it is blowing 38° out of the vents. She is definitely happy. The last time I was home I put dye in the HVAC system to check for leaks and I didn't find any. With the gauges hooked up I was only seeing 180psi on the high side at 91° ambient outside temp which is pretty low. That was my indication that the compressor was struggling to build head pressure. Got her all fixed up now.

I also pulled my racecar out of the shop today to have a little fun.

 

Gm wanted 500.00. Ac delco new 289.00. I can not tell you the difference between the two.

Edit, I did not change pumps. Just gaskets.
