Kentucky is not as low cost as one thinks.
Yes house prices are some what low, it’s the taxes and surcharges on everything that gets your wallet.
The state surcharge on my home policy was the same as the insurance rate. So it doubles the bill. Also a lot of the cities and counties have a payroll tax that you pay. That was about $1200 a year. -
You have a point there but I rather pay 180k for a house rather than 375k or more in Miami. All I’m getting in Miami is sun and rain. Yeah there’s beaches but locals barely go to it.Chinatown Thanks this.

Louisville has a beach....it's called Kentucky kingdom...I delivered their waterslides.
They are from Ajax Ontario....
Or Holliday world in Santa Clause Indiana.
.....our beaches are concrete unless you wanna get bit by a turtle in a lake.
Ever heard of..... Turtleman? -
I remember reading a story by one of their ex-drivers. It was terrible. Hopefully they have changed.
Used to be neighbors with a Dominoes driver, half of a team. Forget about getting your full eight hours in the bunk. Both drivers worked every stop. They also had to rotate the stock in the reefer. Pulling out the old and putting the new in, then putting the old back in front of the new.
Good money, but lots of work. -
How did that work out for him?

Don't miss Louisville Slugger bat factory , Churchill Downs for some brown and toast , Kentucky Trailer is also there.
Good Luck -
He still works for them, but out of the Ft Worth Terminal. He says he is happy there. His wife is able to be a fulltime mom.

I moved from Louisville to Texas. Absolutely loved, LOVED Kentucky. As @Chinatown referenced, plenty of jobs from which to choose; every driving job imaginable. But don't be fooled by thinking cost of living is going to be what plants flowers in your front yard. We paid as much for car insurance as we did in Joisey, just terrible. And depending upon where you live, residential costs can be high as well.
But still, everytime I switch over to the Bluegrass channel on Sirius, I get a tear in my eye. And I cry everytime I hear My Old Kentucky Home sung at the Derby.
Chinatown Thanks this.
