I had an astatic 636L and the button got stuck down on the mic, even tried pulling it out. I guess ultimately it fried the finals in my 655 because a new mic didn't fix my problem. Grabbed a RK to get me by for now but should I get another 636 when I get my radio back or run the road king. Either way I need to buy one more mic to carry an extra with me. Price difference doesn't bother me.

Have you ever tried a sra-198 mic?

Don't know what they sound like on a styker, but they sound real good on the cobra brand.

    I have a 636,and the 198 sounds far superior.

The SRA 198 worked the best on my 955. Disnt like the Road king and the Astaic 636L didnt work well with my 955

I think part of choosing a mic is the radio it's used on and part is your voice. I have a Stryker 447. I've tried several popular mikes and ended up using the stock Stryker. I asked other drivers I work with to give me feedback on the sound quality of different mics. For me the stock mic seemed to do the best job.

Do yourself a favor and look into the Stryker software that is downloadable for your 655. You may have to order the USB cable for it(I don't think it comes with the 655). Many useful tools in the software to protect your radio! Look on YouTube for videos explaining how it works.

Order from stryker..sra 198 works real nice with my hpc2 and 955...

Software is free from stryker and the cable is not and run of the mill cable either..Dont knkw what it is but order from stryker...
Stryker d/l allows you to program freq, roger beeps, screen name and so on but it also allows you to program some saftys for your radio like voltage and swr protect.....
