Its my understanding that the first batch of Prostars that came in (The mid roofs) are being given to anybody that will take them. Most guys that got one wanted out due to lack of space, so the newbies are jumping at the chance to drive a new truck.

The trucks are not made to be cut as far back as Central wants to run them, it just causes problems.

Thats a fact, nothing gets a better resell then a Pete or KW.

Like I've probably mentioned before, all my grandpa's trucks are PACCAR's, I have a special place in my heart for the T2000, probably because my first long haul experience was sleeping on the floor of a Series 60-powered KW T2000 =)

Eventually if I get experience and he wants me to come drive his 2008 Pete 387...I'd be down for that. *O/O Spec w/ a Cummins ISX 515hp and a 13-speed*

my head may explode with all this info but thanks you guys! talking with Ronni and getting the ball rolling, hope to be on my way to SLC (my old stomping grounds) in a few weeks to attend Central driving school. looking forward to reading more "Newbie" updates to see how it's going for them, as for the Vets all your insight is much appreciated, good and bad! They have help me make my decision, I know miles are low, pay is low, but so is the check at at the dead end job that I hate now! so thanks again

If the turbo's are blowing that earley it is most likely an oil line leak to the turbo housing.
I have had that happen, but saw it in pretrip and got fixed quickly. Now if people do not go around there engine and check it all, they may have an issue lol.
I have driven them all at one time or another. And I honesly do not have a huge preferance one way or the other. I like a longer wheelbase for the smoother ride, but I like the turning radius given by set back axles.
My current truck has a good look, a nice hood, and is still very light.
It is lacking in storage space, that is a fact. Mostly becuase I have so much stuff in the under bunk space needed on a flatbed. Plus all the items for hauling oversize ect.
So I don't have any space under there for my personel items.
But the truck rides smooth and pulls well with its nice big cummins.
I don't have icon. Was not on the truck and the company will not add it. We are told "run the darn truck if you need to sleep" lol. So it idles allot. They don't mind, as long as we get a good comfortable nights sleep. Though I have talked to them about under bunk heaters, APU's, ICON, ect. They do not show much interest and the head of maintance thinks it would just be more to maintain.

Also, you better check your prices. None of the used truck prices are good right now, unless you are looking to buy. I have seen full fleets of long nose petes 2 years old with less than 200k miles going for 32k each. These were optioned out trucks.
Sure, a ragged out company international or freightshaker will go for less. They were bought for allot less also, and many of them are big fleet trucks.
I can find good pacar trucks for under 40k all day long, less than 3 years old with less than 300k miles. That is an almost new truck. Not that much more than the international or freightliner.
Most of these prices will never reach an ad though. They are the actual price. Not the dream prices.

I will say again. If you have a good running reliable truck. Keep it. You know what you have. You know it is making you money. Why would you want to open a new can of worms.
