Rand McNally TND 740 "GPS not responding"

how to get it free? i cannot use it for truck ifi don't pay after 14 days

 

None of fixes in this thread worked for me.
I did this: simply deleted "user" folder.
I lost my address book but it seems to be working normally again.

 

Well, that worked for one trip. Now I got the "truck gps stopped" message.
After another 2 hours of repeated attempts at updates/database repair, I seem to have gps again but no address book functions and can't use the "via" route function.
I already tried and failed at the fixes for address.

This unit is only 5 weeks out of the box; at least my other Rand devices would work a couple years before failing. I'm sure they'll send me a replacement but what to do in the mean time?

I'm through with Rand.
Before I pay for the Garmin, any final input out there?
Is Garmin more reliable, should I get something else?
Maybe I'd down load an app but I don't want such problems crashing my phone.

Geez loiuse these things have been out a long time; are they ever gonna get it right?!

 

Be better off go Walmart for cheap tablet and just load an app.

 

Hey guys my rm the screen is flashing and the gps shuts down and won't start back up how do I fix it

 

Hey my rm 740 the screen keeps flashing and then it turns of and it takes it awhile to even try to come on how do I fix it

 

Buy a Garmin. Problem solved.

 

#### my old 720 tnd just keeps on plugging,from what I read on these threads both garmin and the newer tnd are both bout equals,that is to say over priced junk,too many problems fer me,
I don't need navigation except in citys
Rand seems ta be best n that at least
