I would ask the Dealer for a warranty history report. Very easy to do. Also can get the Manufacture and in service date, just to see exactly what the average miles it’s been ran. Also like to know how often oil was changed. I think blowby, is important on the newer Trucks, since it’s recycled. Old Trucks, it can be seen easily. Everyone preaches Dynos and oil samples. Since a Truck can have problems, and plenty power, and oil samples mainly good for monitoring trends. Neither is reliable, unless there’s a major problem currently.

It's a nightmare and I'm not buying it unless Paccar used trucks happens to pay for the major repairs that it needs.
Everything was fine until they pulled the valve cover(s) off. Apparently the cam and the rockers are rusted and need to be replaced and they are talking about coolant getting past the injectors or something. I bet the injector cups went since that's the thing these motors are known for.
Would you have any idea why the cam and rockers would be rusty?
I've never heard of such a thing in my 30 years of experience.
Definitely not buying but I have to buy something soon so I'm not sure who to trust because I feel like everything is a scam
This unit was from the Paccar used truck center in Salt Lake City Utah.
I'm almost ready to buy new but it would hurt quite a bit financially and during this economy it's probably a really bad idea to buy new.
I don't really know what to do, to be honest. I just need a decent used tractor that's not completely junk.
Thank youdaf105paccar, Brettj3876 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
