I have a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia and I get regular oil changes at 10k miles but I noticed my truck eats up oil, there are no leaks of any kind anywhere. I work in construction and I haul heavy loads of 85k, I don't have an manual engine fan so my motor gets hot sometimes and I have to use my engine break a lot because I'm coming down the rockies. Do you guys know why my engine is burning oil? Thanks for the help

More than likely carbon packing. Valvoline has a special oil called Blue Restore that helps with carbon packing. I costs about $100 a gal but is recommended by Cummins.

If you are not finding oil in the coolant, you have dry air lines and tanks, it is not leaking on the ground, then it must be going through the cylinders. One sign of this is a high regeneration of the emissions system. Along with that you may see intermittent emissions related problem codes. Cummins did have a problem with piston ring quality during the 2012 to 2014 production years. Carbon packed rings and cylinder scoring have been related to this.

Miles and run hours could tell more about what’s going on. I would venture to guess an inframe is in your near future.

Sorry op I dont have good news for you ...my 2013 cascadia isx 450 powered started using oil at about 540k and by 684k was using a gallon every 800 miles ...tear down at that point revealed what I already knew .
Rings carbon packed ...liners polished ...cam shot , everything else looked good but did a complete overhaul with updated cylinder packs .
    No issues since .
I didnt try the 100.00 a gal valvoline as theres no such thing as overhaul in a jug .
Seems to be hit or miss in the 12 and 13 engines as a guy I know has an exact mate to mine from the same fleet and hes at almost a million miles now with no issues .
    Good luck !
