I've been reading this thread for a while now, it has been entertaining and informative. Somewhat inspirational; but I wouldn't say it's a barrel of sunshine and roses.

Good luck Rob; things definitely look bleak for you right now, but perseverance seems to have paid off for you in the past.

The Super 10 seems to be a thoroughly stupid design; if you wind up replacing it I would look into alternatives that are direct swaps (if there are any).

If I were a betting man, I'd wager that the engineers who designed it have never driven a truck. I think it's a pretty serious design flaw that going into neutral damages the transmission. Particularly a transmission aimed at rookie truckers, whom I would think spend more time in neutral while they hone shifting skills.

Agreed. All of it. My only other suspicion is that when the motor mount went, I wonder if that contributed to the tranny damage?

    Aint THAT the truth!!

I've driven a 13 and a straight 10, never a super-10. I like the straight 10. You can drive it without even thinking. If there are direct swaps, and his tranny needs to be replaced, I'd assume he'll stay away from another super-10.

i had the same thought, but the good guy that helped him fix the mouth said they check the tranny over, while they were doin the perventive maintance.. i guess it was just time to go.

my dad had a super 10 in his T600, i loved it, it was the first truck i eva really drove.. shifting was a sinch, it was less searching for holes.. the only draw back was the syncro's.. alot of the times when we'd be pullin heavy and i'd be tryin to be another driver off the line and across the intersection, it wouldn't want to shift into high off of the splitter, it'll just sit there and moan, and i'd have to clutch it into neutral and then back into gear to get the high.. it did that more often then not down shifting too, but other then that she was a dream :biggrin_25520:
