That raises a good question, If you were looking to do the same thing as rob and pull hopper bottoms, should you look for trucks with certain specs?

No unnecessary fairings, that's for sure. My truck had them for 8 years and only lasted 4 months pulling on dirt, clay, and bumps.

    13 speed wouldn't hurt.

Id say any truck is good for a hooper bottom. Bottom line is take care of it and know how to fix it when something breaks.

A 15 speed deep reduction would be nice. That way you would have very low gears forward and reverse for crawling around without straining the clutch and driveline, but still have the same highway speeds.

I wouldn't get a high profile truck for hoppers. Hoppers go places that are low and things can be hit.

Not yet. My buddy is not retired and the timing isn't good. Was already committed to a load to pickup this morning and left early AM to pick it up. Was going to see about delaying delivery it a day or two but may not be able to. It might be towards the end of the week before he's back. I'll probably be going home in the meantime but waiting for a definite answer from his receiver on what they can do.

I didn't really want my business to dig into his in any way, so I wasn't wanting him to put it off either.

If anyone knows how to get a scalehouse number I probably should give them a call.

Are all super 10's automatic in the last 2 gears is it? Could this eventually be a problem later on hauling hoppers due to the stress and weight on the vehicle? I don't really know jack about Super 10's, but I remember hearing either the first 2 gears or the last 2 gears are automatic? Just was wondering if this was the case for all of them
