You are a builder doing trucking. Perhaps, you don't have a trucker's blood. Neither do I. It was an alternate route I took over my previous IT office job as coexisting with the same people at work was not my cup of tea.
It's been over 18 years for me but I don't regret trucking. At my age now, OTR does not do me any good either.

I bid on a CONVOY Chep Pallet load last week. They were offering $900 on the app. I bid $1,800. Needless to say, I wasn't awarded the contract

I heard that FL is closing its bars and ... I guess beaches may also follow. Disappointing.
I would want to say screw covid 19 and let's not close anything and live lives as if nothing is going on, but I don't know anymore....Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
As far as haggling, in June I will have run 12 loads, a lot of short runs by choice. I'm trying to get my sea legs back under me after this COVID induced economic slumber.
Out of those 12 runs, 9 I was able to haggle up by 10 to 15 percent average. Still nothing to write home about, however, being able to haggle a little bit is better than nothing.PPDCT, Dale thompson and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
Sadly, its pure politics to now shift from riots back to covid. People around where I live, you honestly wouldn’t know that covid was a thing. Nobody cares anymore and those that do, it’s because their bosses are making them. Oh well, I’m just getting steamed this morning watching these fools on the news.TokyoJoe, PPDCT, Truckermania and 4 others Thank this. -
IL-PA should have been $2100 easy and only if it could deliver next day before noon, so another short load could have been taken. PA-NY is a $700-$1000 lane, so you could have been at $3000 for two days.
Than NY-IA is decent, again if you could deliver next day in the afternoon and grab something short for $500-700 to finish the day, that would make things much better.
IF you wanted to run over the weekend, from IA you gotta take loads to Northeast, that would have been 1000 miles for $2500-$3000.
IA-Z4 only should be booked if delivering no later than Thursday when you live in Chicago, so you can come home for the weekend.Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
Freight leaving CA is on fire right now, dry van and reefer. I'm booked only 3 days this week starting tomorrow and was going to take the rest of the week off, then I noticed a $3.40 per mile load heading north on Thursday from Convoy. Bid it up to $4 per mile on 960 miles, and won immediately but it's over a 4 day period so I'll bring the load home for a couple days before taking the rest of the trip north. I wish it was always this easy.
