JR.... Hows the guy that had the accident at Mound City Exit? Hubby drove right by it, said the whole truck caught fire?

I wanted to tell you, Thank you for a good company, finally to work for! The trucks are like limos, compared to what I was used to. Everyone is very nice and respectful. It was nice meeting you! Next time we get together we are going to Red Lobster for shrimp. Got my load delivered and they deadheaded me home, to get my stuff and get reprinted for Hazmat. The hotel they put us in was great. And the food they gave us was fantastic. The Physical was the toughest I've been ever through. And waiting on the paperwork to all clear was awful. If anyone else is going to be signing on, Make sure all the paperwork is completely done before going to Omaha to save yourself stress. Thanks again Jim

Wow, no clue -- I hadn't heard! There was a T600 in the yard that looked like it did 15 rounds with Mike Tyson (a driver hydroplaned, jackknifed, went into the ditch and hit some trees apparently) but it didn't look burned.
On the good side, though, safety tells us that we have no fatalities in the past 30 months so apparently everyone lived.
Jimbullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Yeah the physical (specifically the "work well" test) is a bear, particularly for the ladies due to the amount of lifting. I have to take mine again in the next six months and I'm not looking forward to it

Sorry I didn't have more time after the meeting but my two go-home loads were a bit tight and I needed to move out.
Definitely owe you a run at Red Lobster soon! (I'll be delivering in Omaha Thursday according to my preplan if you're around).

So as it stands, this seems like a truly GREAT company to work for. Im in the process of studying for my hazmat endorsement. What paper work were you referring to that had to clear, and what is difficult about the physical? As long as they dont want me to run a mile in 8min or bench press my body weight I should be able to do it....LoL.......What are the company trucks governed at and are they also the 780's? Everyone stay safe and hopefully we will be joining you all VERY soon.....

The paperwork referred to is the usual employment verification stuff. The recruiting folks go through it line-by-line and must hear back from every company listed (and it must comprehensively detail your employment for the past three or four years, and any periods of unemployment) with verification. Very anal retentive government-required stuff.
The "work well" test has about ten components. Do jumping jacks, touch your toes ten times, lift boxes of various weights to various heights, grip strength, pushing and pulling a heavy sled device, etc. The last test is a real piece of work -- you basically climb a normal stepladder but you skip the first step and do it five or ten times with each of your legs.
As for company trucks, I think I outlined this earlier but basically its 85% Volvo 780's, 10% Kenworth T600's and 5% Prostars. I think they are governed at 65-68 or so, but that may have changed after I switched to my lease last year.
Good luck,

-
Thanks for the info, do they do verifacatiion when your there or prior to your starting? Also, does anyone know where you can go to find out every job you have ever worked? -
I'd try to google the web site and its on there... yes, all trucks have Qualcomm installed and that is how dispatches are sent.
