Visualize this..... You are off for a 3 day weekend and put the truck in the company shop for a few minor repairs and head to the house. you're back on Tuesday and guess what? No truck. A driver came in on Saturday under a hot load with a broken down truck and the shop gave him your truck to complete the load. (the minor repairs were finished early Saturday). Dispatch says use his truck and worry about switching later. When you finally get your truck back 2 weeks later, the stuff you added is all fudged up. He tried to install a cassette in your C.D. player and spilled some soda pop inside your $300 gizmo. Can you say "Son of a &^#$%"?![]()

I tried this and it is horrible for otr. First of all, in big cities, there might not be a single station that is usable. Also, every 20 minutes or so I had to change the station it was on. Whats the point?

yeah, CRST did things like, oh, we'll install an inverter for you for $250 (one time fee, if they switched trucks on you you could get it switched for free), oh, we'll install a stereo for you, $50 (each time its done)...
they slipseated all the time. I just had an inverter and it would waste an entire DAY everytime they had to switch it over. I even took it out of a truck myself once to try to save time. Had to pull the side skirt off and everything. LOL. -
I have my own stereo in my truck, hate factory stereos. If I can find the image I had, I'll post it. I just used T-Taps to install it, since the wiring in the truck already had correctly coded wires for connecting.

I use one and yes you do have to switch stations from time to time but it takes a whopping 5 seconds to do. For $10 you can do a whole lot better.

I used t-taps when I was a company driver. THat way you have the harness for the factory radio and new one. When you have to go into company shop it takes a couple of minutes to swap radios and your done. As far as FM transmiters go the new ones are junk due to FCC. I had a transmiter a while back that worked like a charm on 87.9, now that freq isn't even available.
Torque2Haul Thanks this.
