Nobody can quite put their finger on it but whenever a company tries to bring something over from europe for the HD market it just doesn't last.
There is Volvo's engine.
There is Mercedes' first American engine.
KW tried to use ZF transmissions for a while.
and the list goes on...
It sounds like Europe puts equipment though its paces but you bring it over here and it just breaks. Maybe we just break ####.

If you are going to get a Volvo, get one with a Cummins engine. The EGR costs 2x less than the Volvo. Cummins also has a more dealerships compared to Volvo. Ask Sandlapper what he thinks about his Volvo engine.
Volvo makes a great marine engine but not a good truck engine in the US (they do not have the dpf crap). It is very unfortunate that this has to be the case as I have found Volvo marine engines to be reliable.

Weight is not an issue, the average weight for the company im going to lease with i am told is only 30k, but the electrical problems i've been hearing alot about.. This makes me nervous!

I looked at a couple of 880's at Arrow in Atlanta today. An 06 with D16, APU and 485K miles for $57,900 and an 07 with D16 and 460K miles for $66,900. Nice trucks. They offered me "somewhere in the teens" for my 05 Pete 379 that's pretty loaded up......
not.

Those are likely the same ones i was looking at. I'd prefer the mid roof one, though. Did you see the white one with the orange tanks and fenders? That one is purdy >.< Lots of miles on it, though.

Typical. They want premium price for the Volvo and they want to steal your Pete.
