Hello all.Im new to this forum and found alot of these comments rather interesting.I have drivin for two companies over a 10 yer period, which the last three of those and current employer is PRIME.I have seen a lot of negative things posted about them, which I find a lot of them are rather rediculous and hold no value.
Like someone said earlier in this thread TRUCKIN AINT FOR SISSY'S...if you don't like what your doing,or who your driving for then GET OUT.Go home and work an 8-5 job and be happy. As for you TIP,maybe you got out of trucking because you were one of those unsuccessful drivers and got frustrated and quit? And maybe you never gave up your license but had it takin away? Its a whole lot easier to say something negative about someones job or even a person to make your own self feel better. In every job theres gonna be good things and bad things,THATS LIFE.But one of the things I think this industry needs is to weed out the WHINERS,quit cryin and do your job!
As for you SKULLITOR,have you ever worked for PRIME,or have you ever drivin a truck period?Hmmmm...I wonder...once again it sounds like another unsuccessful driver thats gonna try to pass the blame onto someone else....and yes theres things I don't like about PRIME but I like being here and thats the way it gonna stay.Any job is what you make of it.To be successful in this industry you gotta be willing to put a lot of time and effort into making it happen, not sitting around cryin about the load you got going to NYC that you dont wanna take or cryin cause you didn't make it home when you wanted to be....this business is not an 8-5 job.
With that all said,I guess i'll step down and be quiet. For those of you that love this business and have been successful,KEEP ON TRUCKIN...and be safe out there.![]()

But sometimes you have to not be a sissy and stand up to these companies. I don't know anything about Prime. But I will add to the chorus of horrors about CRengland.
Some people will have to go there because no one else will take them.
I say, be prepared to stay in a small military-style barracks room with 10 people in it. Sure there's a movie theatre and nice dining room. But you sleep in a small room with 10 people. Okay for the military, but if you can find a company that will get you a motel to share with maybe 1 or 2 other people, definetely better.
This was about 5 years ago. Don't know if it's changed. Anyway, I finally left after 4 months when my DM kept forcing me to run illegal. I came into the office and confronted him with my logbook. The Supervisor sided with him in the face of the evidence. Oh well, I guess it served its purpose, I got some experience.
But don't do it unless you have to. -
My 7 years of 'seeing' Prime on the road has shown me trucks that were ALWAYS speeding (think may be gov'd down now) and have seen at least 2 tired drivers wandering all over the road!! I think that they are pushed and have minimal accountability!
By the way, I developed 'my own' method of rating companies/types haulers as I see them along the road:
Worst starting at the top were:
1) Cow trucks
2) Moving Vans
3) Parking Lots
4) Flatbeds
5) Most independents!!---No accountability except to Hiway Patrol!!
(No sign saying 'Hows My Driving' w/ph no. to call)
6) Watkins & Fedex (tied)
7) National Carriers: Swift, Prime, Stevens, etc.
Best as observed: Crete & Walmart (never drove for either!) -

It sounds to me like everytime you get passed on the road, your EGO is squashed and you add that company or hauler to your list.As far as tired drivers go,you said you have seen 2 tired PRIMES?What do you do,just drive around Springfield,MO..cause I see tired drivers all the time from all the different companies. You gotta start thinkin outside the box or should I say passed your nose. Not all those companies are bad,and sure each and everyone of them have some #### good drivers like us.You gotta quit talking to EX DRIVERS of a company and try talking to a VETERAN for once. But wait, that might not work because that wouldn't be the answer you wanted to here to passify your EGO?I cant say anything about those companies on the list except for Prime because I've not worked for them. How many of those companies have you worked for? What was that you said...NONE..thats what I thought...its all here- say from your friends, uncles, cousins, nephews, sisters, brother that told you those negative things now isn't it?Prime is a #### good company, and I've been very successful here and we also house a lot more of #### good successful drivers so why don't you go talk to one and get the true skinny?Remember you can a lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. In other words,a driver can be hired by a company and be givin the tools and the knowledge to be successful...but its up to that driver to use those tools and knowledge properly to be successful.
