This may be more old school, but how may of you are running more than one CB at the same time?
Was talking with a veteran driver who told me he was running two CB's. One to monitor the usual chatter, the other to monitor something else like the emergency channel or yard information while jawjacking on the other. Also said the second was from upgrading the first and allowed him a backup in case one puked.
Would it be a good idea to pick up a back up?
Thanks in advance for the advice,
tONt

My husband has two. One for the usual, checking scales, traffic, etc. And the other has the weather band on it. He loves having the weather band, when running south in KS. He's seen too many tornadoes.

As a General RULE in Trucking BE PREPAIRED!!
Always have extra's of everything you "need".
Radio's,antenna and mic are at the top of my list.
Picking up cheap back up radios is very easy and there is hardly a day gone by that I havent heard of good radios for sale in TS for next to nothing($40-$75)
You dont have to be in a TS to snag deals either, the highway is a rolling garage sale.

We literally find them at garage sales all the time. $10 for a radio is cheap. LOL Most of the time they work, some times he has to run them to his CB guy. I got a spanky new speaker for my side of the truck for a buck this past weekend. LOL It sounds better than hubbys speaker.

When I put my radios back in the car I always carry 2 radios .... in the shack I can run 5 bands at one time .....

I have a back up radio up in one of the cabinets in case the main one quits. I can monitor the cb channels on my scanner if I want to. If I hear something on the scanner and want to respond, I just change the channel on the cb

If you are a politician, do you need two radios , so you can talk out of both sides of your mouth at once? But I do carry a spare radio just in case, and have a scanner to listen to other CB channels or the weather, but keep it hidden in Indiana.

Thanks for the information. Greatly appreciated!
Looks like I should be getting a scanner also. -
I use two radios one is an ranger 63ffc4 and the other is an cobra 29 nightwatch with weather. the ranger is hooked up to 18' coax and got an wilson 5000 ant. and the cobra has 18'coax and running an firestick ant. i use the cobra primarily for weather and when i need it in any said company yard.... i use the ranger when i am on the road or talkin skip.

Galaxy 48T w/wilson 2000 for my main talking radio and talking skip. I also have my cobra 29 hooked up to the factory antenna so I can talk to other drivers if running with somebody. I talk to them on the 29 on another channel and monitor 19 on the galaxy with it squelched up just make sure not to come up on something unexpected. Also sometimes being at a shipper waiting for them to call you on one and talking skip on the other one.
