Thanks, I went to 2 places close by and did just that. Even though I haven't started school just yet I wanted to see what they had. They both told me that they were full at the moment, but to check back when I have my license because things could change from now and then. They also actually seemed to appreciate coming in and talking to them instead of just calling like you mentioned. I will try and do a lot of research and go to as many companies as I can.
Thanks again

Ok, Thanks I will check them out.

Sounds like you've got a great start to a career in trucking. Your hard work will pay off.
Don't forget to check the job boards at local truckstops and local truck repair shops.GoBlue487 Thanks this. -
that's a great post. can you PM me your e-mail, cause I tried to message you but I have less than 50 posts. thanks
-
That's exactly what you're looking for. Everyone is going a certain way and when you do differently than the mass the companies realize that you really want to work. You can even ask them if you can do anything to help the process to get hired and believe they will keep your application handy.GoBlue487 Thanks this.

You can try Transway and Hutt trucking out in Holland area also. I get around W MI every day and will try and keep my eyes open for other possibilities for you.

Ok, Thanks, I have looked at them, but haven't went to them in person yet. I would like to find a smaller company that runs regional or just the state of Michigan and back home. I think that will be hard to find with just coming out of school and being in this state but well see. I will go OTR too just don't really want to deal with all the garbage I hear from some of the big companies that I know will hire me (My pre-hires) . Not to say the small ones won't screw me either, I just may have a better chance finding a company that may actually care about the drivers. I can hope at least. -
I don't know who's hiring in your area but I can tell you that you should apply and go to work as soon as possible after you graduate. A lot of companies won't take you after you've been out of school for many months. I got out of school and got my CDL the last of April 2009. When I started looking for a job a few weeks ago, many companies wouldn't look at me because it had been too long. Just an FYI.

Thanks, I wondered about that. Also in my situation I will be done with the school the second week of November which could be hairy with the winter going to start and just starting with a company. But oh well got to start some time I guess.
