in `73, ill bet you got the job. i started a year later in `74. ill never get into a fight ever again, did that stuff in the late `60,s to late `70,s. on medicare, so i can go to the hospital for getting to old, not battling others.

Today’s fat shower shoe wearing steering wheel holding degenerate of a so-called truck driver couldn’t handle the trucking of the early 70’s. There would be a mass heart attack at the first time having to do and angle back into a dock with armstrong steering.

Look again. The truck had a single bunk. Contrary to what most fans remember, they weren't always both up and sitting in the cab. There were several times when one was driving and the other in the bunk. When they stopped for down time, they always got a motel..

I'll take your word for it, as you probably know more than I do about earlier models. Just to clarify double bunk. You mean upper and lower beds like what are common now? I've seen every episode, even recently because it is streaming on Amazon video. I don't recall seeing an upper bunk. Perhaps they always had it raised and locked. Or perhaps Double sleeper means double sized bed, like on a cabover.

I’d say respect was lost when the following happened (in no particular order):
Drivers leaving pee bottled and #### bags in parking lots at Walmart as well as shoppers and receivers
Drivers disregarding traffic signals and signs. Think of the foreigner in Colorado who killed all those people on I-70 because he “didn’t understand the sign” that leads people to think truckers can’t read
Drivers wearing flip flops, adidas pants and chains bathing into shipping and receiving offices talking to customers like they own the place and acting rude. Thanks Illinois white Volvo drivers!
Drivers who weave in and out of traffic with no signal driving like idiots because they’re in a hurry
Drivers who try to do a u turn on a 2 lane road.

those are just a few reasons I can come up with lol. Some drivers are just rude people and deserve the bad reputation. Having said that, a large majority of the fellow drivers I’ve met over the course of my career are pretty decent, hard working people just out to make a living. A lot of the bad reputation is unwarranted but try telling that to the soccer mom driving 90mph in her Yukon Denali with a Jesus fish and Jesus saves bumper stickers with her head in her phone as she’s texting while she drives.

It was a larger sleeper without an upper bunk.

That's fine! I love that truck. I saw it on display at a auto show when I was still a teen. I have one of the t-shirts sold at Petro with the Movin On logo on the front and the Kenworth nice and big across the back. My hopes are to find a small, pre assembled model of it. Basically HO scale, about two or three inches long. Thanks for the info.
