What is the weight cut off where a cdl is not necessary on a commercial truck with air brakes?
-
26k, or towing over 10k.
In other words, air brakes are not related to the CDL requirement in any way. However, you CAN have an air brake restriction on your CDL, if you test in a vehicle without air brakes, in which case you can NOT operate a CMV with air brakes. -
You are wrong. Air brakes have nothing to do with a CDL requirement. Those huge RV's you see going down the road have air brakes but don't require a CDL because they gross out under 26K.

Might want to do a little research on that as it's a per-state thing. If a CDL is required, then an air brake restriction would prevent one from driving an RV with air brakes..
