PAY QUESTION

Your company states they pay $125.00 for Layover which is 24 hours. I have 21 months experience and when I 1st started they were paying me the 1st 6 months everytime for all hours regardless of whether it was the full 24 hours, however, just as like with hourly pay and you get paid for every minute that's the way they paid the less than 24 hour layover. However after 6 months I got a new fleet manager who "told" me he never heard of that and would never do that so dont ask and told me he was my boss and not to argue cuz he would always win and if I continued to open my mouth he'd fire me! At this company at least once week sometimes more we sit 12+ hours waiting on planners and dispatch to send us loads which is no fault of our/my own! So 1 year goes by and n talking 2 other drivers I found out they're getting paid. And so I called 2 other fleet managers who told me they pay their drivers also. N the past I had gone up the chain of command 2 levels and they backed him! This time I went up to the 3rd level of command and same thing. Plus threats to fire me! So the question is do they have to pay me as they pay some drivers but not all that is if it's not the entire 24 hours?

 

I tried to limit the content because the story is long as this has been going on for over 1 year. I never went over anyone's head without first addressing it at each and every appropriate level. #2) I am a licensed mental health therapist it's just mental health doesn't pay well so I changed professions and I've been shocked at what they can do and all the lies! From what I've read on DOT regulations I'm thinking they're suppose to pay you. I was hoping someone who receives layover would respond and let me know if they get paid when the time does not match the full 24 hours. So does anyone get paid when they sit 12, 18, or 21 hours? And if so are all drivers receiving these monies And how can they pay who they want which is some but not others

 

I appreciate all the responses. And just to let you know every time I speak with someone every single one of them lie to me. the funds they use r called "discretionary funds" and the entire $125.00 and anything less than if and when paid is coming out of their pockets because this is time when the planners and fleet managers fail to send us loads n a timely fashion. When I had orientation plus n the past the supervisors confirmed to me that "ANY TIME we sit and its NOT our fault then we r compensated" but of course they deny these statements now
