    IIRC....
A flag draped over casket is to be folded properly and may be displayed in a special case in it's folded state....

That flag represents the sacrifice from the first blood spilled of a Revolutionary War soldier to Rosa Parks taking a stand; from first foot steps of Lewis and Clark to the footprints of Neil Armstrong on the Moon; from the first opening day pitch of Baseball to the triumph of Micheal Phelps.......
That's our flag..treat it with respect......

So the flag represents michael phelps (whoever that is) and baseball too? Where can I find this information so I can keep up to date. Does the flag represent liberals (who are definitely america haters and flag haters ) also?

There was a post recently about a father who was flying the flag of his son's casket and it was ratty. No objection there.

I believe you are mistaken. That flag is flown in a promise from the father to the son to fly it until the son returns home. The "ratty" flag is objected to by the Home Owner's Association and I believe by a member of the city government. (I could be wrong about the city government)

Now, it's possible that there is another situation that you speak of but I do believe this is the one.

    Why, I have no objection.

But, you are right. It was not his flag. But if it was, I would not object. I do not question what people choose to do. It is their right.

*eyes you up and considers giving you a "wake up call" to the back of your head*

I wasn't referring to your objection. I was saying the "ratty" flag wasn't a "retired" flag and hadn't been on a coffin.

If you object or not does not change the fact that the flag had been retired!!!! It is not proper to fly a retired flag!!! Objection or lack of does not make one correct or incorrect.

...and the fact that America is deemed a free country with freedom of choice does NOT include desecration in ANY way of her flag. When you desecrate the flag, you RENOUNCE your freedom represented by that very flag.
You don't like it, leave it, ########.
