I have a 2007 kenworth t600 and just recently my air compressor has been messing up. It’ll work all shift then randomly I’ll notice I’m not holding air pressure. I pull over and both my tanks drop below 50 psi. I’m not able to build any air, I’ll sit for a couple of minutes and then I will start building air pressure again. Thoughts?

Governor

Easy fix. If one of you guys don't mind, could you walk @Mmorales95 through installing and setting the air governor up to pop off at the desired PSI?
-
Depends on what type of governor. The older ones are simple, a 6 year old could do it. The newer ones I understand are a little more involved.
-
Oh and don't set it til it's installed and pumped up. If it stops pumping around 120-125 don't touch it. Never adjust them until you see where they are set at. The governor is either on your air dryer or on your compressor. Again don't touch the adjustment screw until your dryer unloads and see what pressure your at.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Typically its the governor sticking but I have seen the drier purge port stick open and leak out all the air as well.
-
Depending on the governor manufacturer, you may have to use a different pilot port.

I've had similar issues with the unloader valve. N14 compressor. Also an easy fix.
It's the part between the governor and the compressor.
Most likely the governor. Those go bad more often.
