Hello
As a Canadian driver...
I'm interested to acquire my own FAST card.
Where can I find the right form to apply?
What link?
Because I've seen two : one to send to US and the other one to Canada!
Thanks
Lucky Luke

I think if you do a Google/Yahoo search on "FAST card" it will direct you to the right place....I'm pretty sure the Canada Customs website has a down loadable form....

Luke, you can apply online via the Canadian Border Services website. You fill out the form online, then print it out and mail it to the Canadian address. Once the application is approved they will notify you by mail, at which point you have to make an appointment for an interview at the nearest FAST Enrolment Centre. For you, that would be either in Derby Line, Vermont, or Champlain, New York.
Unfortunately, this forum is very restrictive on what can and cannot be posted and links to websites is one of the no-no's. So, do a Google search for "Canadian Fast Card Application", it will show you the link to the FAST page on the Canadian Border Services website. From there you can find the "How To Apply" link, which will walk you through the process step by step. -

Lucky Luke, good luck on getting your Fast Card. Now, an important piece of information-you CANNOT use your new Fast Card unless the company you are working for, and the shipper of the goods you are hauling have jumped through & passed all the qualification steps to be recognized as a 'terrorist safe"/approved company. If you use your Fast Card, and the company you are hauling for has not gone through the extensive US audit/qualification process, you will be arrested. So ask if your company has gone through the process so that you can use your card. My hubby works for a great company, hauling BC to California, and he has his Fast Card. He cannot use it to cross the border, must line up and wait his turn in the regular lane for trucks-a 2 to 3 hour wait usually at the main truck crossing outside Vancouver, since the company has not gone through the verification process of the company and its customers, demanded by the US, for quick crossing.

Just to let everyone know, you can still use the fast card as id to cross the boarder even though the company you haul for isnt fast approved. All that means is you cant haul a fast load or dangerous goods to the states.

I was not awared of that "little" detail.
Thanks for mentionning it.
Anyway I think I would not work for a company who would not be FAST approved.

I think that at this point, having to pass through a regular lane (read not FAST lane...) my FAST card would be of no utility, I guess.
Oh by the way...thanks everybody for helping me!

I decided to simply get my passport instead of the FAST card, for my own reasons. The bulk of carriers around here ask for a FAST card on your application, but will accept a passport.

Basically, do not use your Fast Card, if the company you work for has not jumped through the US hoops to get their Fast Card certification of the company (which is by audit) and they also have to have CTPAT-Certified Trusted Partner Against Terrorism certification of all shippers sending product to the US on their trucks. If these US demanded "hoops" have been jumped through, you can use your Fast Card. If not, and you use your Fast Card, you will be arrested if they catch you using your card, and the company has not jumped through all the protocols demanded by the US.
