2006 T800 with 2005 C15MXS motor.
Under acceleration the compressor safety valve sometimes will pop off.
Running the truck in the shop the air builds to 125 and purges, It only does it at high rpm / load
I'm stumped.
air problem

I would thank it hard to know it is the compressor safety valve while driving down the road. You mentioned the air pressure in the shop. What is the air pressure on the gauges when you hear a pop off on the road?
Rideandrepair and Diesel Dan 92 Thank this. -
It is the safety valve, for sure.
Pressure on the the gauges is usually 110-125
I've run shop are through the main discharge line and it doesn't seem restricted at all. -
Are you sure its the compressor valve popping off?
I don't know about the MXS for sure but some engines/trucks used a similar valve post-turbo as a safety valve to prevent overboost.Rideandrepair and Diesel Dan 92 Thank this. -
That safety valve does go bad, sounds like a machine gun. I remember replacing couple on ACERT engines.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
That did not answer the question of what are the air pressure gauges reading while a relief valve is popping off.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
-
yes it did, the valve pops at those pressures.Rideandrepair and BoxCarKidd Thank this.
-
yes I am, ive already had to replace one because it wore out from popping off and wouldn’t hold.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
-
What psi are you replacing it with?Rideandrepair and Diesel Dan 92 Thank this.

It was 150 or 200 I’d have to double checkRideandrepair Thanks this.
