I have used several PAI kits, no complaints.
Ended up with some Interstate McBee parts on an od ball IHC, 360 or 406? No problems but that is my only experience.
Have been getting OEM reman heads for larger engines. Maybe you have a good shop in your area.
Edit: The first one of the PAI kits was on a 3406 about ten years ago. It is still running with maybe 500,000 on it.

Another Aftermarket that looks good is Mahle. Check them out. I know of 3 good OH, on 12.7 using their kits.I postponed picking up my oem parts today. Going to price them on Monday, myself. Local distributor near Detroit, comes highly recommended. PM me if you want their info.

I ended up getting a PAI Industries inframe kit and reman head from IECS. For my DDEC 6 late model 14L, the only choice for an inframe kit is the dealer, Interstate-Mcbee and PAI. For a reman head, there's only Detroit but other places besides the dealer offer them for sale.

The shop closes for all of next week so it will be the New Year before they see the parts. They've never used PAI before only Interstate-Mcbee.

Just another follow up. I have put about 20,000 miles on my truck since the inframe 5 months ago and the engine is now using less and less oil. I used to need to put in a quart (L) of oil every other day (maybe 1,000 miles) but now it goes a week without needing any.

Other than paying half of what Detroit wanted, I am super happy with the PAI parts. I have not had a single mechanical issue with my engine.

Same here, on my 12.7,I used Federal Mogul, FP brand OH kit and DD reman Head. Changed oil at 6, and 11k. Got 21k now, burning less oil, 1 gal @10k. mileage up a little bit.
