Mine acted almost the same as yours..Freon was low.

That’s where I’d start. Have the system evacuated weighed and filled.

If it is low maybe just add a little freon. Anyway find a good A/C tech.

Sounds low on Freon. Put some gauges on it and see where it’s at

Without hooking up gauges to it for a more accurate diagnosis , I would check how dirty that condenser is . Sometimes you get a bunch of bugs and dust on the fins and if this is only happening during idle it could be indicative of a filthy condenser. If dirty try to hose it down from the radiator side only otherwise you will be pushing debris into the rad . Depending on arrangement condenser is usually held together by minimal amount of screws .

X 2, best to take it off, leave lines connected. Chances are the front of the radiator is blocked with crud. They sell coil cleaner, But some are acid based. Brake clean works good. Power washing can bend the fins. If the radiator fins are very plugged up, take the grill out, and clear the crud carefully with a small screwdriver, trying not to damage the fins. You can also get a fin comb, to straighten them, inexpensive. An easy diagnosis is to put a house fan in front of condensor, but you already know air works while driving. You can cool the condenser down with a water hose at idle, A/C should work. That tells you the air flow is blocked.
