Back before Amtrak, the railroads hated running passenger trains so they deliberately made the service shoddy. They were determined to run off the customers. Then they could show the ICC that they were losing money and the ICC would let them drop the passenger trains. After a public outcry, Congress came up with Amtrak, which the railroads hated and still do.
So they do the same thing that they did in the 60s. They make the Amtrak trains stop on sidings waiting for a freight train every chance they get.
I have some friends that are train buffs say that they ride a lot but have never seen one stay on time.

I can imagine their wanting to run freight. Geesh! I look at these one mile long trains of coal. Or the one mile long trains loaded with trailer/containers. They make the bucks on those.
One Christmas Eve I came through Alliance NE. The yard there was obviously set up to not run a couple days. It was night. I swear... That place looked like a toy train set. It was perfect. With all these engines staggered out front ahead of cars. I still kick myself for not taking a picture. Idiot me thought I would get another chance. Never have seen it quite like that since.
When I was a kid. We took a train from Houston to Sacramento. Familiar with the loop turn around in Tehachapi? I still remember my father. Telling me to look back at the rest of the train behind us.

I agree with the OM. Having been up since 3:20 this morning (EST). I am inclined to get some shut eye too.

So they issued evacuation orders for Ocracoke. This is what the line to the ferry(only way on and off that part of the sandbar)

In the distance you can see the cars backed all the way up. What you don't see is that is the only road in and out of town. There are no businesses, restrooms, or anything else at that ferry access. If I lived on that part I'd be making a killing with a cooler. LOL.

Yes, they are evacuating there already, takes awhile to get all those tourists of to safety. That town got rocked last year, hard. They didn't even open up to non-residents til early may if I recall of this year.

So they evacuate for every hurricane down that way.

Looks like my guest will be visiting FL, then the Carolina's and my sandbar, then it looks as if it's going to go visit up north in the New England area.

I hope it wears a mask. Hurricane germs are the worse.

Looks like a nice ride for sure. A new seat is always more comfortable. What was the three things that made this the seat.

Pardon my ignorance, but "what causes this"?

I haven't slid tandems since truck school (1993) Except for 1 month with CRST, and 6 months linehaul with a regional ltl, my trucking career has been tanks.
