Just curious if there is anybody that is going to be starting orentation at TMC on the 28th of sept?
I started my orentation back on the 14th of sept and had 2 come home because they wanted some paper work from my dr and my dr need 2 meet with me b 4 she would fill it out. so needless 2 say I had to come back home and get that squared away 1st. but the good news is that I got the ok today to come back and finish the rest of my orentation. I was just starting the load securement part of it when. they told me that I could pick up at that when I get back so hopefully that is the case and I don't have 2 start all over again. But if anybody is starting on the 28th let me know I may be joining u on Fri for the load securement part and finishing up the rest of the orentation with u.
Anybody starting orentation at TMC on 9/28/09

I'll be starting on the 5th. If they do make you start over again, don't think of it as a bad thing. It'll be like a review of what you've already covered and you could probably also help with some of the "newbies" in the class.

this is true. if i go back there this coming fri I will still be there because we won't finish up and get to go home or to a trainer till fri the 9th. Maybe I will see ya there. if i don't for some reason good luck -
Good luck to you, too. It would be nice to meet you out there. And anyone else, too.

To illinois newbie driver,
just had a family friend's grandson quit tmc after being out in his own truck after two days.
The first week in des moines can be compared to the marines boot camp at paris islands, sc in the height of the summer or the winter. -
Come on folks, its not that bad in Des Moines, they just want you to follow the rules and such, most of the ones that quit are total idiots, i got done with orientation and im with my trainer now----its not bad at all, everyone that quits or leaves just cant hack it, and shouldnt be employed anywhere, we had some really bad ones in our class yet that all still passed fine

Seriously, TMC, while strict, isn't anywhere like Marine Corps Boot Camp. Show everyone that you come in contact with that you are serious about your job, that you are a professional and you will do just fine. -

Newbie_driver, I was just wondering what you took with you to orientation. Just got the list from TMC and was just wondering how strict they are about some of it. Specifically, the birth certificate. The list says I need a certified birth certificate with a raised seal. I have a certified certificate of live birth but it doesn't have a raised seal. Will that be acceptable? Also, I don't have a passport yet. I filled out the application online, but it will cost about $125 which I don't have. Will I have time to get that later on?
Also, the list recommends bringing a sleepingbag to orientation in case I'm assigned to a trainer right after orientation. Yet they also say that I will be sent home after orientation to wait for the trainer. So which is it? Will I need to bring a sleeping bag with me? Also, and this is for anyone already on a trainers truck or any trainers out there, do I need a sleeping bag or will the bunks already have sheets and blankets?
Also, did anyone bring their laptops with them to orientation, or would it be recommended to leave mine at home?
Thanks.
